Chargers News · Important Volleyball and Cross Country Updates

We are excited that we are able to start our 2020-21 athletic season with volleyball and cross country competition beginning next week.

Here are the important updates:

Volleyball

  • Pre-Season Updates
    • Volleyball will host a scrimmage Thursday, November 12. Scrimmages are closed to the public per NCHSAA rules.
    • A virtual recording for the Volleyball Parent Meeting will be posted Thursday evening (November 12) after the scrimmage. We apologize for this alteration, but a virtual format helps our staff and program stay within current guidelines. Parents will need to complete the linked google form to acknowledge they have viewed the video before the first date of competition (November 17).
    • A parent Q/A session will be held Thursday, November 12 via Zoom at 8 PM. Coach Waters will share a meeting link with all players in order for them to join with their parents. This will enable parents to have any questions not addressed within the recorded meeting answered.
  • In-Season Updates
    • Players
      • Players will be required to wear a mask at all times while not on the court.
      • Social Distancing will be required for all persons other than those on the court.
    • Home Games
      • Due to limitations in the number of spectators allowed, each player will be permitted 2 tickets. No passes will be accepted.
      • For our first home match on November 17 tickets will be pre-sold. Tickets will be available in the front office from 9-3 on Monday and 9-3 on Tuesday. Tickets will also be available at the practice on Monday. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased by the athlete or their parents. A checklist will be used to prevent any athlete from purchasing more than 2 tickets.
      • The gym will be cleared of fans after the JV game and sanitized before allowing varsity fans to enter.
      • At the completion of our first game, our staff will update procedures for the conference games the following week.
      • Temperature checks will be required for all fans in attendance and masks required.
      • All parking will be on the southside of campus near the tennis/track/baseball field in our student parking lot.
      • Home Games will be streamed live for those who cannot attend. Games are streamed through NFHS and require a subscription.

    • Away Games
      • Visiting fans will not be permitted to away games.
      • Coach Waters will have information for those who wish to view streaming of the games.

Cross Country

  • Pre-Season Updates
    • A virtual recording for the Cross-Country Parent Meeting will be posted this Thursday evening (November 12). We apologize for this alteration, but a virtual format helps our staff and program stay within current guidelines. Parents will need to complete the linked google form to acknowledge they have viewed the video before the first date of competition (November 16).
    • A parent Q/A session will be held Thursday night (November 12) via Zoom at 6 PM. Coach Stelly and Coach Tyer will share a meeting link with all players in order for them to join with their parents. This will enable parents to have any questions not addressed within the recorded meeting answered.
  • In-Season
    • Spectators will be permitted to cross country meets up to 100.
    • Social Distancing and masks will be required for fans in attendance. Temperature checks will be done before entry.

While we embark on our sports seasons for this year under different guidelines questions will arise. Please feel free to send inquiries to Coach Skinner at skinnec1@pitt.k12.nc.us. Our staff will do our best to update athletes, parents, fans as things change.
