In their quest for another conference title, the Women’s Track and Field team had another dominant day on the first road meet of the season, scoring 100 points to Greene’s 32 and Kinston’s 29. The men took second falling behind hosts Greene Central by 8 points. Strong performances included the women’s 4×100 meter relay and 4×200 meter relay both qualifying for regionals along with Vito Boyd qualifying with a shot put throw of 45’1″. Other athletes may not have technically qualified based on the times because the online entry system always adds time to hand-held times, so they may not officially have qualified but Jeff Gunter in the 110 hurdles, Lexi Bryant in the 100 hurdles and Jayla Johnson in the 100m dash are all fraction of a second away depending on the new times. Other individuals set new personal records, such as Zamar Hatch in shot put (37′), Neriah Little (28’4″) and Le’monna Cox (27’5″) in the shot put, Zoey Hollamon in the 400m dash, to name a few. And superstar status continues for Zy’kierah Andrews who jumped a new PR of 18’2″ in the long jump (the 2A state champ last year won on a 18’7″ for reference).
