Ayden-Grifton competed against South Central, DH Conley, Southern Wayne, and Kinston. The women took 2nd and had many excellent finishers on the day, including Zy’kierah Andrews jumping 5′ in the high jump to qualify for regionals in the first meet of the year. Nyashia Sutton finished 3rd in the discus, Zy’kierah was 2nd in the 100m dash, Lexi Bryant was 2nd in the 100m hurdles, Aale’Yah Garris was 2nd in the 300 hurdles and 1st in the 400m, and Zy’kierah was 2nd in the long jump. For the men, the 4x200m relay was 1st on the day, which included Wesley Patterson, Antonio Jones, Keshawn Best, and Mike Webb. Their time of 1:35 is just 2.5 seconds off from qualifying for regionals. Jeffrey Gunter was 3rd in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.0 seconds, a mark that is 0.1 second off from qualifying for regionals. Vito Boyd was 1st in the shot put with a mark of 44’6″, a mark 6 inches off from qualifying for regionals. Jeff was also 2nd in the 300m hurdles, Elijah Dawson was 2nd in the mile, and Jeff was also 3rd in the long jump. Next week AG returns home to start conference play against Kinston and North Lenoir.
